Your Kingdom?

Money... that’s fine...; goals and dreams, fine too. Nothing wrong with this stuff in and of itself.  But, put it before God and His Kingdom and it makes for a not so abundant life.
I can truly say that my real joy these days does not come from things, but rather just from knowing that I have Jesus as my captain.  Not to sound all over-spiritual, but have you ever felt the joy that comes from keeping life simple and abiding in Him?
Consider our day and age and how much stuff you really are given by God to be a steward of?  No joke, even though you may think you are a ‘self made man’, where you are was allowed by God and can be just as easily taken away by God because He owns it.
Consider the following scripture today and let’s take a moment to examine ourselves.
John 15.4 Remain in me, and I will remain in you. Just as the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it remains in the vine, so neither can you unless you remain in me.  5 "I am the vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in me - and I in him - bears much fruit, because apart from me you can accomplish nothing.  NET
Matthew 6.19 "Do not accumulate for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But accumulate for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.  NET

Two roosters will make a henhouse rowdy

Today’s thought: Some farmer I am. These new funky breeds of chickens sure fooled this ole country boy. I had decided that Maxine, our blue whiskered chicken, was just a late bloomer and that one day she would fetch the courage to start shooting out those breakfast bullets. I know that I can be a little slow on some things, but this one slap dab embarrasses a fellar planning on making a go of this farming scene. Turns out that Maxine is closer to a Max.
I guess that I could have done a bit of investigating to determine the gender of Max, but I figure that there I would not invade such privacy of a chicken. Shoot, Max was just too purty to be a rooster. Turns out that these new fangled breeds even make fine looking roosters. Who would have guessed?

I will send Power.

Today’s thought: D. L. Moody was short, stocky, and did not have the credentials to become ordained. His writings were often filled with grammatical errors and his speaking was often accompanied with mispronounced words. Yet he was one of the most instrumental men of the nineteenth century in regards to introducing folks to Christ.
As Easter leaves, I find myself engulfed, once again, in the motions of Acts. As I walk the shore of this book which describes the beginning of the Christian church, I pick up a bottle containing a note with a longing question – why did Jesus pick such a lot of men to raise the sail to His Church? Why didn’t He herd in scholars of the law, rabbis, and gifted orators? Why did He choose such ordinary men as fishermen and tax collectors? His choosing does not indicate an executive search committee or corporate head hunter searching for highly educated leadership qualifications...
